The British High Commission is a modern, dynamic diplomatic mission fostering partnership between Singapore and the UK. It is part of a world-wide network of 230 Posts, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are currently looking to recruit a Trade and Investment Officer. Trade and Investment Officer The Trade and Investment Officer will be working in the UK Trade and Investment section, reporting to a Team Leader, to help UK companies develop their businesses in Singapore. Responsibilities • Assist UK companies on doing business in Singapore, including market research • Assist in the planning and execution of seminars, company launches, and networking events including marketing communications and coordination of logistics • Maintain, monitor and update databases and Client Relationship Management tools • Identify relevant commercial news for dissemination, issue Business Opportunities and follow-through on a regular basis • Identify potential contacts within the Singaporean business community for visit programmes for officials and companies • Provide assistance to UK companies exhibiting at trade fairs, participating in missions or visiting UK or Singapore • Provide advice to enquiries on doing business in Singapore • General administrative duties as required to support the team in the delivery of objectives Requirements • A strong team player, both within and across teams. • At least 1 year’s experience of working in the private sector or international trade • Strong customer focus and commercial acumen • Meticulous with an eye for detail and adaptable to changing priorities • Have good communication and interpersonal skills • Excellent English, both spoken and written • Strong IT skills; proficient in MS Office and social media applications • Ability to establish and maintain client relationships • Experience in market research and event management would be an advantage • Experience of working in the life sciences and consumer goods sectors would be an advantage • The job holder may be required to travel occasionally to the UK and within the region • Some evening and limited out-of-hours work will be required around events and visits.
