The CCSO, for the first time in its history, received an Excelsior - TopicsExpress

The CCSO, for the first time in its history, received an Excelsior Level reaccreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA). This newly-achieved Excelsior status means the CCSO was accredited and then reaccredited five consecutive times over a fifteen year period, meeting all 259 required standards each time. A team of assessors from the CFA arrived in Clay County in July 2014 to examine all aspects of the agency’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services. The Accreditation Program Manager for our agency is Deputy Ken Murray. The assessment team was composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar agencies who reviewed written materials, interviewed personnel and visited offices and other places where compliance can be witnessed. The CFA Assessment Team Leader was Lt. David Lipker of the Punta Gorda Police Department. Other team members were Lt. Chris Welch of the Bureau of Fire and Arson in Tallahassee and Ms. June Esposito of the Port Canaveral Police Department. These assessors completed their review and reported back to the full Commission which then made the final decision. Verification by the team that CCSO meets CFA standards is part of a voluntary process to gain and maintain accreditation which is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler and his staff welcomed the assessment team to our county and proudly attended the reaccreditation announcement ceremony last week in Palm Harbor, FL.
