The Caliph - Hazrat Abu Shaytan ibn e Yazeed al Jahannami al Dozakhi: (Part Two-Reference Added) So which really is the Army of Black Banners? - Imam Tirmidhi reports in his Sunan that the Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) Black Banners will emerge from Khurasan, nothing shall turn them back until they are planted in Bayt ul Muqaddas. (Jami Tirmidhi-Imam Tirmidhi, 531/4, #2269) - Imam Ahmed reports that the Prophet(Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said: When you see the black banners emerging from Khurasan, pledge your allegiance to them for the Khalifa of Allah Imam Mahdi will be one among-st them (Al Musnad-Imam Ahmad Bin Hambal, 70/37, #22387) If anyone talks of the possibility that whatever is happening (these days regarding the khilafat) is because of the fact that it was all predicted in the Hadees then is it not possible that these people might have disguised themselves (to replicate) as that of the description given in the Hadees so that common people are deceived and misguided? Wait! What are you talking about? Did anything of this sort had happened before? The answer is Yes! It did happen ! In 132 Hijri during the reign of Banu Abbas, they carried out similar claims and the banner of their army was also Black! Hafiz Ibn e Katheer has discussed this incident in detail in his Al Bidaya and he made it clear that those people with black flags were not the ones who have been mentioned in various Ahadees. Is every army with black Banners on Haqq? Apart from those Ahadees in which the virtues of the army of black flags and the order for every Muslim to pledge allegiance to them is given, there are additional narrations that clearly mention about the fake and fanatic army of black Banner with clear warnings to stay away from them. I want to mention one such Hadees here which has been narrated by Imam Nuaym bin Hammad in his Al Fitan which surprisingly suits the fake Khalifa Abu Shaytan Abu Bakr al Baghdadi al Jahanami: - Hazrat Ali RadhiAllahu Anhu said: If you see the black flags, then remain on the ground and do not move a hand or a leg (meaning do not join with them) A group of people will then appear whose hearts will be like that of iron. They are the owners of the state. They would fulfill neither a contract nor a covenant. They will call towards the truth, but they wont be its people (meaning they are not the people of truth). Their names will be a kunya (i.e. Abu so-and-so) and their lineage (surnames) will be of a town (i.e., Baghdadi which when joined becomes Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi). Their hair will be unwinding, like that of women. (Do this) until they differ in it between themselves; then Allah will give the right to whomever He desires. (Al Fitan-Imam Nuym Bin Hammad, 210/1, #573) - And Imam Ibn e Hibban reports that the Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said: Verily, I fear about a man from you who will read the Quran so much that his face will become enlightened and he will come to personify Islam. This will continue until Allah desires. Then these things will be taken away from him when he will disregard them by putting them all behind his back and will attack his neighbor with the sword accusing him of Shirk. The Prophet was asked - which of the two will be deserving of such an accusation? - The attacker or the attacked? The Prophet replied - the attacker (the one accusing the other of Shirk). (As Sahih-Imam Ibn e Hibban, 281/1, #81) So how would we come to know which army of black flags we are supposed to support? With the grace of Allah, lets finish this issue forever: Imam Ibn e Katheer writes in Al Bidaya and Allama Manawi in Faiz ul Qadeer has clearly explained this: What is mentioned about the black flags in various ahadees is right but it will come true during the time of Imam Mahdi AS. Imam Mahdi would appear first and then people will pledge allegiance to him in Makkah, and then will appear to his aid the army (of black Banners) from Khurasan (al Bidayah Wan Nahaya-Imam Ibn e katheer, 248/6/ Publisher-Fikr) Apart from these narrations, other Ahadees mention that the army which will emerge from Khurasan will kill the terrorists (Sufyanis) and they will wait for Imam Mahdis arrival. Hence whenever you see people with black flags,it is your duty to confirm first-hand whether Imam Mahdi has arrived in this world and declared his Khilafat and that whether the people have started giving the pledge of Allegiance to him or not. May Allah save us from the Fitnahs.Ameen Wallahu Wa Rasooluhu Aalamu Wajahat Hussain Al-Hanafi
