The Caloosahatchee culture is an archaeological culture on the Gulf coast of Southwest Florida that lasted from about 500 to 1750 CE. Its territory consisted of the coast from Estero Bay to Charlotte Harbor and inland about halfway to Lake Okeechobee, approximately covering what are now Charlotte and Lee counties. At the time of first European contact, the Caloosahatchee culture region formed the core of the Calusa domain. To even be considering renaming a bridge is taking away the heritage of what makes the state of Florida rich in history and is a dishonor to those that the land belonged. Adding further insult to rename the bridge Henry Ford a well known anti semantic is insane. A close friend recalled a camping trip in 1919 during which Ford lectured a group around the campfire. He attributes all evil to Jews or to the Jewish capitalists, the friend wrote in his diary. The Jews caused the war, the Jews caused the outbreak of thieving and robbery all over the country, the Jews caused the inefficiency of the navy… pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/interview/henryford-antisemitism/ Leave the bridge alone honor the ancestors of our state!
