The Catholic Church which Jesus established provides the FULLEST relationship w Jesus. A personal relationship with Jesus is ALL about the Bread of Life! The Eucharist is not a thing. It’s not even an “it”. It is a “He”, a person. THE person-Jesus Christ. It is a personal relationship with the One with whom we must be united to have life. It is not an abstract omnipresence. The Eucharist is THE encounter with the risen and glorified body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord and savior, Jesus. The fullest possible relationship with Christ IS an encounter with the WHOLE Christ-body, blood, soul and divinity. The relationship with the whole Christ is the whole point. He said so Himself: John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I AM the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst. John 6:48 I AM the bread of life. John 6:49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; (compared his VERY SELF with miraculous bread from Heaven) John 6:50 this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. John 6:51 I AM the LIVING BREAD that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and THE BREAD THAT I WILL GIVE FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD IS MY FLESH.” Some refused to believe He could make good on his word. John 6:53 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? John 6:54 Then Jesus said to them: AMEN AMEN, I say unto you: except you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. John 6:55 He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day. John 6:56 For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. If He was not speaking literally, He could not have given an answer more geared to deceive His hearers. Furthermore, amen, amen is an OATH formula. The Bread of Life is not the bible or even His teachings (as the bread HE would give was a FUTURE bread and He had been teaching His doctrine for 2 years already) or Jesus disembodied spirit. The Bread of Life is the God/Man Jesus; the Word made flesh who became OUR miraculous Bread. He is the Word that brought all things into existence from nothing, changed water into wine, multiplied the loaves and fishes and walked on water. He can and does make good on His word. If you have been away from the Church, come home for the feast. If you have never been to Mass, come and see. The family table is not complete without you.
