The Center for Public Education clearly defines how religion - TopicsExpress

The Center for Public Education clearly defines how religion should be taught in school: The Constitution uses 16 words—known as the “religion clauses”—to create rules about how faith and government interact. One clause gives citizens the right to freely exercise religious convictions; the other prohibits government (including taxpayer-funded public schools) from establishing religion, meaning granting favorable treatment. It is not our intention to have religion removed from the school books, but it is our intention to speak out when there is clear favorable treatment being provided to one religion over another and in the current book that we are seeking to have removed from the schools, Prentice Halls Medieval and Early Modern Times, a clear favorable treatment is granted only to Islam. This is in direct violation with the CPEs guidelines and therefore is a direct violation of the First Amendment. Please feel free to order a copy of the book and read it yourself, come to your own conclusions and share them with us. We have already undertaken this process. We welcome everyone to join the conversation, but please educate yourself on the matter before casting judgement on us. In return we will always do our best to offer you the same courtesy.
