The Centre for Environmental Data and Recording (CEDaR) would like to announce this year’s Garden BioBlitz, which is being held between Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June 2014! CEDaR is working in partnership with the Bristol Natural History Consortium and the National Biodiversity Data Centre (NBDC) to launch this survey for the first time in Ireland. What is a Garden BioBlitz? Its a list of all the wildlife you can find in your garden over a 24hr period. You dont need any special skills, and you dont have to blitz for 24hrs, just go out at different times of the day, write down what you see, take lots of photos and upload your records! The main aim behind this blitz is to gain an understanding of the biodiversity found in urban and rural gardens. We will be providing an online page on our CEDaR online recording in the next two weeks. If you are unsure of the species, pop your photo onto iSpot or Twitter and gain access to a whole range of experts and verifiers who will help you ID your species! When querying a record on Twitter, please enter #gbb14. So………..what’s in your garden?
