The Centre’s plea for review of its verdict, pronounced on February 18, commuting death sentence of three convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case to life imprisonment was on Tuesday rejected by the Supreme Court. “We have carefully gone through the review petition and the connected papers. We find no merit in the review petition and the same is accordingly dismissed,” said a bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam.
