The (Charlotte) Observer will generally avoid references to the Redskins nickname for Washingtons NFL team, the newspaper announced Saturday. Exceptions will include stories that address the controversy. Hypocrisy anyone? Im no Redskins fan, but its ok to make a buck (50 cents) on the Redskins brand while banning the Redskins name? Perhaps the Charlotte Observer should: 1) keep politics on the opinion pages, not the sports pages 2) ban use of Redskins in ALL instances-- not just those that suit the political agenda of the editor(s). 3) Just stop running stories about the NFL franchise. Dont report scores. Dont talk about the draft. Dont talk about the coaches. Dont talk about the team AT ALL. Then and only then will the paper be making a statement. Technology didnt kill newspapers. Political correctness did.
