The Chase, Bimp, is on the chopping block this week as the 91-day reality show nears its end. The 23-year-old student is on the brink of being just as famous as other single-name touting public figures, but only if he stays in the house a little longer. Not that his fans aren’t working to keep him there. His antics in the house have sprouted a 6000-strong Facebook fan base that regularly drums up support for the man from the landlocked nation. Bimp is such a cool cat that he earned an unprecedented 10 country votes the last time he was up for eviction. So what makes Bimp so bodacious? Firstly, before he went into the house, he described himself as honest, loyal, dependable and responsible, and for the most part he’s lived up to his word. This was best demonstrated by how broken he was when Tanzania’s Nando was evicted. While not justifying Nando’s actions, Bimp ranted while exhibiting genuine pain and concern over his well-being. Though coming across as shy and reserved, Bimp is not one to take himself too seriously. Viewers saw a different side to him when he and Botswana’s Motamma broke into a spontaneous tango session once. And the brother has got moves. He even had a rose clutched between his teeth that he smoothly transferred to Motamma by the end of their impromptu performance. As far as responsibility is concerned, Bimp has been the perfect gentleman – even in the face of some very tempting offers. With all the history and perceived bad blood between Ghana’s Elikem in the wake of his involvement in his friend Nando’s eviction, Bimp remains on cordial if not cautious terms with him. When Elikem denied Bimp a chance to try out for the all-powerful Head of House post through his exercise of his Power of No win, Bimp simply took it in his stride. Are there any other reasons we missed out? Share them with us. Remember to vote for your favourite contestant, between the loyal Bimp, grounded South African Angelo and the flirtatious butterfly from Namibia; Dillish.
