The Chicago Bulls should stay the HELL AWAY from Carmelo Anthony! The Bulls are one healthy season from Derrick Rose away from being the reincarnation of the 03-04 Detroit Pistons. Arguably the greatest team the basketball gods have ever put on the court!! Tom Thibodaux and this Chicago Bulls team live and die by their defense. And not just regular, match up, man-to-man defense......no, an all encompassing, smothering, force of nature kind of defense. A defense that looks a lot like that 04 championship Pistons defense. They defend as a team, as a unit. To a man, they commit fully to defense. And Carmelo? ...Carmelo Anthony?! He is without a doubt one of the most prolific scorers in the league today....maybe even ever. But I may not have ever seen a player who is more of a defensive liability. Ever. Carmelo Anthony is 68, the average size for a Small Forward, arguably the most versatile position on the court. But Carmelo is not a versatile player. He is a stand still, eat up the shot clock, spot up shooter. And he has the unfortunate responsibility to guard the best players in the league. Lebron, KD, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard...to name a few, all Small Forwards. You cant move Melo down to guard shooting guards, that would be a joke. Melo has literally NO lateral movement. You cant move him up to guard power forwards, ha! Melo is one of the most finesse players in the league. He doesnt box out, he doesnt fight for rebounds, he is the farthest thing from a banger in the paint. I do not like Carmelo Anthony as a player. The way he plays is not conducive to winning. Especially on a championship level. He could be a great fit somewhere.....like Phoenix, or Philly. A young team that plays a run-n-gun style. A team that puts litte emphasis on defense and is built to outscore everybody. NOT a team that plays slow, half court sets and plays defense like a monster. Chicago is the exact opposite of the kind of situation Melo needs to be successful. Lebron has made the go where winning is easy method very appealing to a lot of players, so I understand Chicagos appeal. But it is a bad idea. For both parties.
