The Christian call to belief, trust, and worship of the Living God is, as skeptics would rightly point out, a call to faith. But what it certainly isnt is a call devoid of reason or compelling evidence- a call that must be answered simply because God said so. It is a call of commitment to the one who, through his countless acts in the finite past, has proven himself worthy of our trust and worship. The evidence justifying this call may not be conclusive and definitive. But just like a young man makes a conscious commitment to love a damsel based on limited, yet compelling evidence for a love that they both share [for neither of them knows with utter certainty if the others love is truly for better or worse], the Christian call is a call to the honor and worship of the God who has proven his love in the past, sustains it in the present, and has vowed to never leave or forsake us. It is a call to trust.
