The City of Cape Towns Sport, Recreation and Amenities Department has hosted the annual Cape Town Games on 26 April 2014 at Swartklip Indoor Centre in Mitchells Plain. The Cape Town Games was aimed at community members aged between 9 -- 35 years who participate regularly in programmes of the department, but who do not ordinarily participate in sport tournaments. Participants were selected from recreations hubs and community centres across Cape Town, and the emphasis of the games was development and fun. Cape Town Games aims to encourage mass participation in physical activity and to showcase some of the activities taking place at the various community centres and recreation hubs. The event included Table Tennis, Pool, Dominoes, Chess, Marabaraba, Board Games, 5-A-Side Soccer, Netball, Dibeke and Drie Stokkies, among others, in a competition format. After the games awards were handed out. The event was fun for the whole family and will encourage social cohesion, especially amongst youth.
