The City of Jeffersontown is a First Class City with a Second - TopicsExpress

The City of Jeffersontown is a First Class City with a Second Class Classification under Kentucky State Law. We had a Mayor and Six Council people for years but the informal government in my opinion was the most effective. During my years as a resident, the City seat of government (informal) went from Cozy Corner Tavern on Town Square to Maple Inn on Taylorsville Road to Karems Bait House back on Town Square. The Mayor had a number of unpaid consultants who would level criticism and express concerns in a setting where inhibitions were limited. The Mayor would listen and calmly tell these individuals that they could kiss his large backside. After further investigation of the problems brought to light, more often then not. a Public Works Project was born. In my estimation conversing with the people directly allowed us to find out problems and deal with them quickly without hundreds of thousands of dollars in surveys and professional consultant fees. The success of the modernization of Jeffersontown was in a large part due to the accessibility of the Mayor to his constituents.
