The Cole Humphrey Memorial Endowment of Cumberland Community Foundation was created to honor the Cape Fear High baseball shortstop and football wide receiver who died in an automobile accident at 17. The fund can be used in any way Cape Fear athletic officials decide. This year, they chose to award a $1,500 college scholarship to one of Humphreys closest friends and long-ago Eastover Diamonds teammate - Dylan Horne.
