The Colonel and I went to the Botanical Gardens in Wellington this morning to plan out the walking performance route of Lewis Carrolls The Hunting of the Snark reading that some members Capital! Steampunk NZ are performing on Sunday 23 November at 11am as part of our Steampunk Wellington Weekend. This is open to the public and any steampunk souls who wish to explore the gardens and join us for a cuppa or lunch at Begonia House afterwards. The route is gently sloping with no steps. We found some lovely old buildings and a large artillary gun I didnt know existed, interesting large sculptures surrounded by lovely native trees in bloom and as a bonus the Victorian Perfumerie at the top of the cablecar was open. He had his native NZ perfumes available to try. They are all amazing. So were the views. Looking forward to something a little different, come and join us on Sunday 23November. REMEMBER: Sunday 23 November (11am): The Hunting of the Snark – a non-strenuous stroll round the Botanic Gardens to the accompaniment of Lewis Carroll’s wonderful nonsense ‘agony in eight fits’, read by Capital! Steampunk members. No bookings; meet at the top of the Cable Car and we’ll go from there, probably ending up at the Rose Garden tearooms for a spot of luncheon (the scones are excellent). Note: this one is weather-dependent, but we should know on the Saturday if it’s likely to go ahead You can sleep on Monday …
