The Cook (Tammy) is doing her part (bear pancakes with wild blueberries) and of course other foodstuffs to help keep everyone in good spirits along with the rest of the staff as Camp has been weather bound for the last 3 days. Everyone is safe, warm, dry and well fed as all wait out the inclement weather generated by mother nature showing us just how incidental we are in her scheme of things. So like the earliest people before us who just hunkered down and waited it out, so must we. An interesting observation in a wilderness setting is how a small percentage of often well educated people cannot seem to accept the fact nature can totally control their movements and neither man, machine nor money can change the terms. I suppose it is a type of fear of not being in control, on the other hand there are people who would give anything to experience an adventure of this nature once in a lifetime. Over the years I have learned that often the quiet and self sufficient individuals radiating a good karma can accept and make due with situations caused by nature or mechanical failure, while those somewhat entitled tend to exhibit difficulty and masked fear similar to that which occurred on the cruise ship Triumph which was stranded in the Gulf. Of course this is just my opinion from my personal observations of operating in extreme wilderness areas for 28 years.
