The Copiah horses were headed for slaughter in Mexico not for human consumption, but for product. Animal food, gelatin, violin strings, etc. Poor quality pet food contains animal fat, animal by products, meat by products, meat by product meal. That is rendered meat of any kind of animal, rotten meat, outsourced meat from Mexico and China, whatever. Sorry....Id rather pay a few bucks more and know what Im supporting with my money. Read the labels. If it does not clearly say what animal it comes from, dont buy it. And know this...chicken meal, or by product meal has 300% more protein than chicken meat. Dont freak out....
