The Corpus Christi Caller-Times took a hard look at the candidates for Comptroller -- and made it clear: Mike Collier is the smart choice for Texas. If the state comptroller were a non-elected professional, sensible Texans would hire what theyve never voted into that office — an accountant. Democrat Mike Collier — CPA and former oil company chief financial officer — would be a shoo-in. The Comptroller’s office is serious business, and Texas deserves a leader who will get the numbers right with competence and accountability. Lets send an accountant – not another career politician – to the Comptroller’s office!
