The Count Down Begins.... Today (03 November 2014) marked another milestone in Alhaji Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkellas (KKY) career. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon formally inaugurated the the Global Facilitation office of the Sustainable Energy For All (SE4All) office in Vienna, Austria today. This event was significant for two reasons: first, it shows that KKY can take up an assignment, define the vision and deliver the results on time. Second, it also signals the beginning of the end of KKYs UN career, as he prepares to return home to answer the call of his people for him to vie for the Presidency in 2017/18. Since taking up the leadership mantle for SE4All full-time 16 months ago, he is credited with the following achievements: ●Declaration of a decade of sustainable energy for all 2014-2024 by the UN General Assembly ●Securing a goal for energy in the post 2015 development agenda as SDG-7 which eluded the world for two decades ●Establishing a global plan to mobilize an additional $120 billion dollars a year for energy investments around the world ●Establishing a framework to support over 30 countries to achieve sustainable energy including a commitment by the EU Commission and the US government to provide access to energy for almost 900 million energy poor people by 2030 (mostly in Africa). A man of vision, a man of action and a gifted leader in creating strategic alliances and creative coalitions. He will do the same in Sierra Leone, that is, create a grand coalition of progressives from all political parties, tribes, religion, gender and the youth to take the country to the next trajectory of economic transformation, inclusive growth, enhancing opportunities for all. The count down begins............
