County of San Bernardino has reciprocity with CalPERS. Human Services is recruiting for Case Review Specialists who collect and analyze information, and produce detailed reports relating to Human Services cases where claims against the County are anticipated. These positions perform case and policy review, which includes information gathering and analysis, interviewing key individuals, gathering documents, preparing reports, and working closely with County Counsel, Management and Risk Management. For more detailed information, refer to the Case Review Specialist job description. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel: Incumbents may be required to travel throughout the County. At the time of hire, a valid California driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation. Work Schedule: Some positions in this classification may be assigned to a schedule of less than full-time (80 hours) per two-week pay period. A list of completed college coursework or a legible copy of transcripts MUST be submitted if the applicant does not possess a bachelors degree in one the qualifying fields of study listed above. AND Experience: Three (3) years of investigative or evidence gathering experience in a liability, legal, risk management or other investigative environment. Experience must include researching a variety of issues, performing quantitative analysis and writing reports of findings in areas such as organizational operations, performing program monitoring/evaluation, or implementation or training on legislative/regulatory changes for social services programs. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office, have experience with the computer systems in various Human Services departments and possess excellent written communication and interpersonal skills. SELECTION PROCESS The written test and writing exercise will be administered the week of December 9, 2013 and will consist of an evaluation of knowledge and skills on the following topics: Investigative and Analytical Techniques Interviewing and Interpersonal Skills Written Communication/Report Writing In order to be successful in the examination process, candidates must pass both the multiple-choice written test and the writing exercise. The writing exercise will only be scored if a passing grade is achieved on the multiple-choice written test. For those who are successful in both areas, a combined score of the multiple-choice test and the writing exercise will determine final placement on the eligible list. Approximately one week prior to the test week, candidates will be notified of the test time and location. Applicants scheduled for the examination will be required to show photo identification or equivalent.
