::The Creation of Jinn and their Physical Origin:: ================================ [In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, the Most Merciful] Allah created Jinns from fire. Allah says in the Holy Quran: And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. [Qur’an 15:27] Allah says further: And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. [Qur’an 55:15] And Allah says: “[ Allah ] said, What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you? [Satan] said, I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay.. [Qur’an 7:12] In light of the above mentioned verses, one may ask, If the jinn are created from fire, then how is it possible for them to be burnt in Hell? One may also wonder how it is possible for jinn to reside in human bodies. Ibn Aqeel said: You should know that Allah has attributed devils and Jinn to fire just like He has attributed human being to clay, mud and dust. This means that the human origin is from clay and not that he is of clay in reality, but he was made from clay; similarly, the jinn were originally created from fire, but in reality they are not of fire now, as indicated by the Prophet ~: Satan appeared to me when I was praying and I kept on throttling him until I felt the coolness of.his spittle between my thumb and index finger. [Musnad Ahmad 3:83] So, if we assume that jinn are still made of burning fire, how is it possible for them to have cold saliva? Another Hadith of the Beloved Prophet, sallahu allihi wasallam, that confirms that jinn are not made of fire is: Allahs enemy, Iblis, came with a flame of fire to put it in my face. [Sahih Muslim: 542] This indicates that if jinn had kept their origin of creation (i.e. fire), they would not need to use a flame of fire to bum others - rather it would have been sufficient for Iblis to use his hand or any other part of his body to bum human beings, since real fire bums people upon contact with the skin. AI-Qadi Abu Bakr al-Baqillani said: Although the jinn were originally created from fire, we cannot deny that Allah can make their bodies bigger and change their characteristics from fire into other different shapes and forms. [Ash-Shablis Akaam al-Murjaan: p.21-22] AND ALLAH KNOWS THE BEST.
