The DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has filed a police report about a "malicious" blog-post that she claimed is “seditious”, in that it could incite hatred against her. She urged the Sri Petaling police to investigate the posting entitled ‘Cina pun mahu duit zakat - Teresa Kok’ (Chinese too want a share of Muslim tithe), posted on bnbesut.blogspot between Aug 4 and 5. NONEThe posting (right) has since been widely shared on Facebook and other social networks, she said. "This is criminal defamation ... the police have to check it. It is also a form of sedition because it can make the Muslims hate me," Kok told Malaysiakini after lodging the report this morning. She said she was taking this “pre-emptive” step to prevent the police from going after her as had happened in 2008, when she was detained under the Internal Security Act for a week “due to malicious lies”. Kok said she will next lodge a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to act against the blogger, who has yet to be identified. -- Malaysiakini August 8, 2013
