The DAs call for President Zuma to be impeached is the epitome of - TopicsExpress

The DAs call for President Zuma to be impeached is the epitome of madness. The same must be said of the criminal charges laid by them as well as the EFF. Whoever said this is the silly season got it totally wrong. It is the season of craziness. Firstly, nowhere in the report does the PP say Zuma stole money. The report says he stands to benefit from some of the projects undertaken. Nowhere does it say he gave instruction for a pool or bullet proof to be installed. What constitutes criminal conduct on his part? On what basis do you impeach the President when no report was tabled in parliament? On the basis of rumours and newspaper reports? The PP chose to release the report publicly without referring it to parliament. Like all Chapter 9 institutions, the PP accounts to Parliament and understand protocols to be followed when dealing with a report like this. Lindiwe Mazibuko must arrest her excitement, direct her misguided anger at the PP for not referring the report to Parliament. Despite what the PP might think, she is not a court of law and Mazibuko needs to appreciate that fact as well. Her report must be tabled before Parliament for consideration. Only then can the DA call for an impeachment process to be initiated. What if Parliament rejects the PPs findings? I cannot wait for Parliament to establish a committee to look into the report and that committee must invite the PP to make a representation. Having listened to the PPs press conference, reading part of the document, speaking to friends in the legal fraternity and listening to Cde. Krish Naidoo at our branch meeting today, I am convinced that the PP has compromised the investigation as well as her good office. The ANC Chief Whips Office has already pointed out some of the flaws in her report. She also used the law and value or moral judgement inter changeably. This post is not about the correctness or the wrongness of Nkandla. It is about process. Some will argue that of what relevance is process because a wrong has been committed. If the process was flawed, the outcome is also bound to be flawed and that fact makes process an important consideration in the matter. I have previously stated that I am concerned about the PPs conduct and I believe the Nkandla report vindicates my concern. I believe that her behaviour brings her office into disrepute and will ultimately destroy the good standing of that office. Her decision to attend a DA rally, releasing watered down reports on matters affecting the DA, leaking reports to the media, presenting her findings as if they have the same standing as a decision of the high court, etc, are some of the reasons that make me concerned. I look forward to the NECs statement on the matter.
