The Daughters of the American Revolution commemorate and remember on this day 17 September in 1787 that the US Constitution was signed. It protected God Given Rights ..among them Life ,Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.Our ancestors had struggled to obtain freedom and had declared in the Declaration of Independence these rights...to be free and able to worship God as they pleased.For this they had given much and some had given all.Freedom was a process from the landing at Plymouth rock and Jamestown until the first shots at Concord , and more than a dozen years and the Articles of Confederation until the Constitution was written .The struggle for freedom continued to realize the General Welfare clause as proposed in the Preamble as one of the six reasons for govt until all citizen were equal under the Law which had been the dream of our ancestors. Americans can be proud that this nation accomplished liberty under the law as no other nation in the history of mankind has. .The people must chose leaders of moral character who love this nation and the Constitution above themselves and personal gain.The people must hold our leaders accountable to the law so we will remain free. It is this legacy that we pass on to our children by defending, protecting and remembering the Constitution...and as we remain a virtuous people with values , God will bless America...
