The Deaf signing community of Australia needs to work together to fight for our human right to participate in Jury Duty. I was the first Deaf Auslan user to get through the proceedings but I will not be the last. I am appalled by this statement made by Jim Coburn; Communication as between the jurors and the jurors identifying the demeanour of any particular witness in the witness box. Unfortunately to be able to do that, you need to be able to hear what is being said and for the purpose of a fair trial, you cannot run the risk of someone missing an important piece of evidence because of an impairment. We are a linguistic minority and our language (and ourselves) should be respected and be granted our human right to serve Jury Duty. - See attached the TV interview I did with Wake Up promoting about our right to serve for Jury Duty. https://youtube/watch?v=cg8rcuiAjJk
