The Department of Justice is suing Louisiana on the grounds that their school choice voucher program is causing a “racial imbalance” in schools. The program gives students who attend failing schools the opportunity to enroll at a private school using taxpayer money. The lawsuit claims that the exodus of students from the failing schools to better performing schools is causing a change in the original school districts’ racial demographics, despite the fact than any student in a participating school can opt into the voucher program, regardless of race. It is clear that Eric Holder is more concerned with outdated desegregation policies that trap children in failing schools than allowing them the opportunity to receive a quality education. Call LA Gov. Bobby Jindal at (225)-342-7015 and tell him you support school choice in Louisiana and his statement that “parents should have the ability to decide where to send their child to school.” Then, call Eric Holder at (202)-353-1555 and ask why he is wasting taxpayer money to prevent students from getting the best education possible.
