The Department of Sociology at Temple University seeks to hire a tenured Associate or Full Professor in the field of urban sociology for Fall 2015. We seek a scholar who studies cities and the role of space in peoples lives. We want to hire an urban sociologist who is grounded in contemporary urban theoretical issues and debates, skilled in designing empirical studies of cities and with interest in and/or experience with conducting funded research. This faculty member is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate survey courses on urban sociology as well as specialized and advanced courses in their interest area(s). We are in a great city, well situated on the east coast, and Temple is a wonderful place to practice sociology. Applicants should submit a letter of intent, a curriculum vitae with the names of three references, samples of written work, and a one-page statement of teaching interests, experience, and philosophy.
