The "Dot" Connector: My best teacher is the Holy Spirit who has given me the insight to be a “dot” connector for the church. The “dots” are out there. I have been studying and researching cell phone technology’s development over the last three years. What I’ve concluded about this technology age is that the church needs to change its paradigm / mindset to reach the new generations. For generations the church paradigm has been to bring people into the church. But technology has created the possibility of a new paradigm. In addition to bringing people into the church, it is now possible to take the church to the people. There are 80 million Millennials between the ages of 18 and 29. They represent 25% of the US population. They are larger than the Baby Boomer generation and three times larger than the previous generation. 80% of them are not in church and -- from the research -- don’t intend to be. My Other Teachers: cell phone / mobile device development -- Apollo Bravo / 3D technology development websites / Barna Group / Julia Duin – “Quitting Church / Stephen Mansfield – “ReChurch” / -- A 90-page PDF collaborative project conducted by Barkley Agency, Service Management Group, and the Boston Consulting Group called, “American Millennials: Deciphering the Enigma Generation” – The New York Times Magazine – “Data You Can Believe In -- The Obama Campaign’s Digital Masterminds Cash In” -- Stanford Social Innovation Review 10th Anniversary –“What Obama’s Campaign Can Teach Nonprofits About Measurement – Non-Profit Management” -- Civis Analytics – “Our team spent two years in that cave, building the technology and analytics tools necessary to run the first individual-level campaign in history. The strategy of the campaign was built by the voters we spoke to, and analytics was the bridge. We now have one goal: to solve your toughest challenges by analyzing big, individual-level data through proven methods and technology. How good were they? They were so accurate that they were within 1% of what the polls were showing. (More to Come)
