The Double Front Fried Chicken Restaurant in Missoula is celebrating its 53rd year....a little factoid for all you Missoula History buffs....Per Nordstedt of Sweden contacted me many years ago asking about his Great-Uncle, from Sweden, who settled in Missoula. Mr. Nordstedt built the Northern Hotel and restaurant in the early 20th C. It is the Depot Restaurant and office spaces now. My dad said Mr. Nordstedt was famous for his fried chicken. He and Grandpa Helding would get a bucket of Nordstedt chicken when they went fishing. The Northern was sold to Mrs. Anderson and Nordstedt went down the street (Alder) and opened his fried chicken restaurant....which morphed into The Double Front! Today is Pers birthday..Happy Birthday from Missoula.
