The Dr. had the closest thing weve had to actual good news - TopicsExpress

The Dr. had the closest thing weve had to actual good news tonight. As Ive said before they have been very careful about giving us too much hope whatever that means. Tonight however, they told us that Seth seems to be doing well enough to install a feeding tube. (Yeah I didnt know he didnt have that yet either.) This news made the family feel like there is a lot of hope and that the medical staff is not giving up on Seth. Nobody is giving up on him. None of this good news should be a surprise to anyone. A lot of us spent the whole day fasting/praying for him. These are blessings. We also learned more details tonight concerning the immediate aftermath of the crash. I spoke with a person who was with Seth right after the crash happened as well as the investigating Highway Patrolman. The person that got to Seth first is actually medically trained and is a physical therapist assistant here at Utah Valley Regional. When he got to Seth he said Seth was unconscious and not breathing. He was on his way to see the lights at Temple Square and his father-in-law was a couple cars behind Seth. The father-in-law was actually the one who called 911. Shortly after the first man reached Seths side a woman trained as a nurse came running across traffic with a backpack full of supplies including gauze which they used to help stop the bleeding. Trying to find a pulse, they rolled him over and undid his shirt and got him into a position that opened his air way to try to help him breathe. They successfully got him breathing again although it was a very labored and ragged breath. There were other eyewitnesses and Ive heard talk of an off-duty paramedic there helping as well. All of these Angels stayed with Seth until the ambulance arrived. Each of them are very likely responsible for saving his life. The man I spoke with tonight said he didnt sleep a wink on Friday and spend all day Saturday and today trying to find out who Seth was, and find out if he was okay. He finally stumbled across a Facebook post that Timpanogos Harley-Davidson made and found my number and was able to call me. Keep the funny stories and pictures coming folks. While every offer and kind gesture has been appreciated the funny stuff is what has been the most help to the family!
