The Dry Dock pub. The Dry Dock pub in Leeds is an unusual curiosity to be seen marooned on a patch of grass in the City. This old boat once plied the River Aire as a sand and gravel barge called the Lambda. The Dry Dock can be found in the middle of busy roads, near to the 1966 bridge to nowhere, and the Beiderbecke Affair secret meeting car park! As with the A64 Red Bus cafe, we never really give it much thought where these old vehicles, boats, and trains came from in their working days. The Lambadas last resting place was on the River Aire until 1993. It was plucked from the water by crane near to Clarence Dock. The Lambada was lowered onto a low loader, and then driven to its new location with a Police Escort. As well as the logistical difficulties in transportation, another challenge was to persuade the council of the merits of the idea. Initially the pub on a boat project was to be on a temporary basis, but the pub is still there and doing good business in 2014. **Read all the comments below for the full story**
