The DuSable Museum and the Illinois Amistad Commission invites families, educators, and Civil War enthusiasts to join us on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at The DuSable for our second annual “Civil War Family Day.” This history-packed day will be filled with riveting battle re-enactments; engaging historic character re-creations including Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and President Abraham Lincoln. In addition a special recognition of “Juneteenth” will be observed and exciting family activities and Museum tours are on the schedule. ORDER OF EVENTS 10:00 am — Event Opens 12:00 pm — Battle Reenactment Part One 1:00 pm — Children’s Horses Rides 1:00 pm — Haystack Theatre 1:00 pm — Civil War Medical Unit (demonstration) 1:30 pm — African People’s in Chicago During the Civil War Era (Lecture) 2:30 pm — Battle of the Marching Bands 3:15 pm — Battle Reenactment Part Two 4:00 pm — Haystack Theatre 4:00 pm — Children’s’ Horses Rides 4:00 pm — Civil War Medical Unit (demonstration) FILM SCREENING!
