The Egyptian Government (not sure about the accuracy of the word - TopicsExpress

The Egyptian Government (not sure about the accuracy of the word Government...) did it again a few years ago: forbidding foreigners from professionally working as solo Oriental Dancers in Egypt. I caught the last year of this law - enforced by a very famous Egyptian Dancer who now enjoys being sponsored by the same foreign dancers she tried to stop from working in her country. During the time this law was active in Egypt, I had to fly to Lebanon, Oman and Qatar in order to work as a dancer and only when they put if off I was able to start my career in Egypt. Although this law - similar to the one at Kitty´s time - was off, the way foreign dancers are legally treated in Egypt is close from hell, in particular if there´s no man warming her back and moving things (with Money, of course) in order to make things easier. Foreign dancers pay much more taxes than Egyptians, they have an array of legal paper work to prepare (which take a great deal of Money, employees and time to finish) and they are - well, at least I was for 7 years of life and career in Egypt - constantly harassed by the police (checking their papers, cloths, moves, whatever they may catch in order to take some Money from us). Situation has not changed much since Kitty´s time. Thanks for sharing this information, AmaniTeam Bellydance. * Lot of RUMORS Kitty the beautiful dancer who has objected and refused the decision of the Minister of Manpower ( equivalent to Ministry or work)that to expel the foreign dancers and give space to the Egyptian dancers instead was the cause of the migration of lot of Arab and non Arab dancers to leave Egypt.. Kitty asked the foreign minister of her country ( the stories tell the foreign minister of France Dominique Dofilpan!! Why not the Greek minister?!) to solve the problem because this decision will destroy her career but nothing changed. youtu.be/gZqsF_7NlnA
