The Egyptian Revolution has empowered women! Yes. I had a discussion with Mariam and Lester Kurtz who are writing a book on Women, War and Violence and we agreed that Egyptian women are now emboldened, they have broken social and cultural taboos, speaking out against harassment and for their rights in general. The level of political activism among women post-revolution is unprecedented. Remember how women took to the streets after the girl in the blue bra incident and chanted women are a red line! Remember how they protested when there was an article in the constitution linking womens rights to Shariah Law. Yes, the revolution has empowered our women :)
