The Emperor’s New Clothes will have the audience laughing as the Emperor’s kingdom falls apart because the pampered emperor has become wrapped up in his tasteless wardrobe. His three lovely daughters quickly become chips off the old blockhead as well. But, two con artists, Wart and Hog, arrive and devise an ingenious plan for cheating the emperor. Everyone pretends to “see” the magic clothes, until the emperor’s serving boy covers him up, laying bare the truth that the emperor seems to be wearing no clothes! The serving boy’s honesty is contagious, and the emperor has quite a revelation. He’s been blind to his own selfishness until this fateful day. The emperor vows to his people that he will not only keep his underwear covered, but he will reform his ways. The cast for the play will include Aaron the Minstrel, the Emperor and Empress and their three daughters. The con artists who convince the Emperor they have the finest clothing material are Mr. Wart and Mr. Hog. The Emperor’s servants are Trudy and Jeremy. The Emperor, who is also somewhat of a hypochondriac, is treated by Drs. Jones, Smith, and Drivtonsils. Others with speaking roles are Sgt. Neener, Miss Penelope Method, and Cordelia Gleedrival. And, of course, dance and gymnastics groups will be included in the cast.
