The Endangered Species Act is one of our most important environmental laws—and despite what you hear from the Republican side, it is working. Without the ESA, scientists estimate that at least 227 species would have gone extinct with Endangered Species protection. Moreover, 90% of the listed species are recovering at the rate that was expected in federal recovery plans.
