First they will increase the room rates extremely high for any events . This is how you are stopping people visiting Dubai. They they discover that their occupancy not picked up as expected they drop their room rate below the 2/3 stars and thus the small hotels gets so many cancellations. When you keep very high rate such as selling one apartment for 5k to 10k and room 3k to 4k , you are already telling those who want to visit Dubai not to come. They go to Malaysia, Singapore, Hongkong and Thailand were the room rates are stable and not much restriction on Visas . Government of Dubai must leave the hotel to relax and be satisfied with the 10% they collect and be flexible because to manage a hotel is huge expense as it is not a trading business. No body reaches to help a hotelier when he incur losses due to low occupancy. There is no limit how many hotels we need in Dubai like in Qatar and Abudhabi did not give licences to open more hotels till 1991 coz the government dont wanted hotels to run into losses. People increased their rates so high and kept the visitors away. They went to other countries including oman. This is too painful for me coz I eat the bread from Dubai. The First culprit is Landlords, Then there are many factors for hotels and visas not forgetting the regulations. I hope somebody will open their eyes and see how the visitors said not welcome wit
