The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus Department of Women Ministry had three days leadership training from August 25 to 27, for women ministry coordinators of all church units. The aim of the training was to create women who are equipped and empowered to be leaders in church and the society. The need of having Christian women leaders in the church ministry and society was one of the main discussion points at the training. They mutually agreed that women leaders are as much important as men- to serve the church, society and families, to be part of decision making body of the church, to increase women’s contribution in their communities, to help in the process of eradicating harmful traditional practices and so on. And to empower these women, these kinds of trainings are very much needed. The training was very participatory and the women were actively asking questions and giving ideas. It was believed to broaden the knowledge of these women in the areas of leadership.
