The European Parliament has issued another appeal to Spain Greece, Slovakia, Romania and Cyprus to recognize Kosovo as soon as possible, as they are the only EU States not to have done so yet. The resolution was passed on Thursday on the issue with 485 in favour, 94 against and 40 abstentions. The head of delegation of the Austrian Greens in the European Parliament, Ulrike Lunacek, said that the broad support for the report sends a strong message that independent Kosovos future is in its integration into the EU. She noted, however, that the EUs positive impact on Kosovo has been repeatedly weakened by internal EU division, as these five States have not yet recognized Pristina.
