The European Union Heads of Mission to Libya welcome the launch, on 14 January, of a round of political dialogue in Geneva under the auspices of the Special Representative of the Secretary General, Bernardino Leon. The EU Ambassadors encourage all those invited to the dialogue to contribute to the process and to seize this important opportunity to seek an agreement that ends the deepening political and security crisis in Libya and furthers the higher interest of the nation. There is no military solution to the conflict and an inclusive and transparent dialogue is the only way forward. The EU Heads of Mission reaffirm their full support to the efforts of the SRSG and reiterate Europes commitment to a united, democratic, inclusive, peaceful and prosperous Libya, and which equally protects the rights of all Libyans. The Ambassadors commend those who are taking part in the talks and look forward to others soon joining the dialogue. The EU Heads of Mission urge all those involved to engage constructively in these crucial efforts at a moment when Libya finds itself at such a dangerous crossroad.
