The Event Safety Alliance offers its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those lost in Fridays horrific accident during a concert in South Korea, which occurred when a ventilation grate on which fans were standing collapsed beneath them. This tragedy is a stark reminder of the risks that surround us when guests are invited to a show. It is incumbent on all of us in the event industry, whatever our particular role, to be mindful of potential safety concerns and to work diligently to protect the very people who make our industry possible. While it is true that each of us have a responsibility to look out for ourselves there are some who are not as prepared to see the danger ahead of them and we professionals therefore should be as diligent as possible on their behalf.
