The Family Centre Newsletter Sorry there was no email last week – email was against us and wouldn’t let us send anything for a couple of days. ** NEW SERVICE ** In January 2015 we will be launching a pilot of a new service – a Kid’s Club for deaf 6-10 year olds. In response to family feedback we have decided to reduce the number of family activities and introduce this new club. If your deaf child is in this age group you should have received an email with further information earlier this week. There are only 10 places available for this pilot – so get back to ASAP. ** YOUTH CLUB ** If your deaf child is 8+ don’t forget that they can come along to the youth club. All youth club sessions are open to deaf 11-19 year olds (24 with learning difficulties), but since September 2013 there have been regular sessions open to 8+. Since the youth club started we have · Had trips out to Thorpe Park, London, Weston-super-Mare, Harry Potter Studios. · Staying locally we’ve been ice-skating and roller disco, had art and textiles workshops, Played football and tried boxing, held a BBQ and made pizza. · We’ve had life-skills workshops and played some stupid games. · We’ve spent the day at Woodhouse Park outdoor centre and had a three day residential at the fantastic Mill on the Brue Activity Centre. Make sure your young person isn’t missing out, get them registered for the youth club now. Registration is essential and ensures that we understand your child’s medical needs and we can support them without a parent/carer remaining on site. The next 11+ session is on November 29th. The next 8+ session is on December 12th. FAMILY SESSIONS All our family sessions are open to your whole family – whatever age your children. The next event is the Christmas Party and details are below and we have other sessions in planning at the moment – we’ll let you know as soon as we’ve confirmed the details. EVENTS Please note that from now on we are asking you to book and pay for activities in advance – we cannot guarantee places on the day. 23rd November – AGM and Circus Skills workshop THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED We have emailed all the details to our Family Members and we look forward to seeing you on the day.
