The Family Farm, Tennessee, Saturday, June 7, 10:54 PM The islands name is significant but so many local people, despite knowing the name and its meaning, have long since lost any real consideration of the names implication. And it is very true that we live in times when names that are given things and people arent really significant. Pop names or names with catchy sounds or rhythms are mindlessly selected from books or from imagination or, God forbid, from celebrity idols, without regard to what could be better given. Ive seen this even in the names of boats and Ive noticed a few along the way---(where on earth do they get such?) Funny, I recently saw a nice boat hauled out and in dismal condition with a really large FOR SALE sign on it, and the name? Happy Time. I guess the party ended! And thems my soapbox sentiments about names...at least for now! Ah, yes and back to that island...they call it Talikud Island. Its meaning? ...Turn Around Island. Now the significance of that name is in what lies beyond the island...open ocean and depths that drop more than two miles to the sea floor. The take home from that information is the fact that if one is not prepared for crossing such waters, ...aye, ye best be turnin around! There is a spiritual application here---Booking big responsibility with God is a serious affair. His leadership will lead into deep waters and take one farther than could ever have been imagined. Great faith is absolutely necessary when going beyond sight of all things familiar and an unflinching commitment must be made when casting off. I have thought a lot about missionary service in terms of there being no turning back. And anyone can say, I would go, if... or I want to go, but... or Choose me...I have what is needed... but my friends, lets face it, the Good Lord knows already whom He will send and with Him, He leads to many points of no return! But that is just the key...it is HE who is leading so that we can go without fear...beyond Talikud Island....time and time again! God bless you all. I am praying for you! I will post again...
