The Famous Preston Night rodeo had good attendance, despite a tragic accident that claimed the life of a skydiver. Kelly Campbell, a 33 yr old Smithfield man, was pronounced dead at the Franklin County Medical Center after apparently making a a blind turn to avoid landing in the bull pens at the rodeo and getting tangled in some power lines. -The Preston Citizen- One day Ill attend this rodeo again. Its been 23 years but I cant quite bring myself to go. All too well I recall the last moments as he turned after missing the arena and then disappeared. Its been 23 years since our dear mother last hugged our father for the last time. Life has interesting paths and courses- some good and some bad. All the times Ive wished this day all those years ago was rained out and the rodeo was called off. We are grateful for our fathers legacy and hope our mother knows our deep love and gratitude for what she did to keep us going.
