The Farmer’s Son Of a farmer’s son the story is told, From the provinces far away and cold; The first of his family not to repeat, To the big city and college enrolled. Now alone amongst the privileged elite Where so very different he took a seat; The farmer’s son far above his station, Wondered how he could possibly compete. But for his father he would never quit And to the insults somehow he’d take it; For at stake you know the family name, Some way, some how, he’d find a way to fit. And in time the farmer’s son learned the game, For his own advancement he showed no shame; To superiors whatever, he addressed, The farmer’s son needed to be the same. Till the farmer’s son in this life long quest, Ever worried that he may fail the test; It’s here in his perception of the best, He now thinks he’s better than the rest. Dave
