The Father had TWO models of sons. If you look at Luke 3:38, you see Adam called the Son of God. Yet, if you look at John 3:16, you see Jesus referring to Himself as the ONLY begotten Son of God. This at first looks like an apparent contradiction, but it is not. It contains a deep revelation. Adam-type sons are the natural citizens of Earth and originate from the dust. The Jesus-type Sons originate from Heaven and originate from within the Father. So, what we are as NEW CREATIONS are BEGOTTEN sons of God. An entirely new species whose natural home and citizenship is Heaven, whose family is the SAME family that Jesus belongs to, TRUE brothers and sisters of Jesus. Adam never had these things. When the Lord wanted to fellowship with Adam, he came down and walked with Adam in the cool of the day. WE, on the other hand, boldly approach the Throne of Grace. What Jesus did for us on the Cross gave us an infinitely better standing with the Lord than Adam even had, so that now we are SEATED with Him in the Heavenly Realms (Eph 2:6). That is what we are now, and how He wants us to look at ourselves.
