The Festival of the Lake is October 17-19, 2014 in the heart of Historic Old Mandeville. Admission is FREE for this community event held on Lafitte Street by Our Lady of the LakeCatholic Church. This year, Sundays are back! The Festival is returning to its original three-day schedule. Festivities begin Friday, October 17th at 5 pm. The Festival of the Lake is a premier event in St. Tammany Parish with live music, great local food, games, a 5k race and a craft show. The music line-up for this year includes The Molly Ringwalds and Randy Jackson and Joe Caluda Acoustic Show on Friday, with 90 Degrees West, Christian Serpas and Ghost Town and The Bucktown Allstars on Saturday. On Sunday, the Festival opens at 11 a.m. with the New Orleans Saints vs Detroit Lions game on the big screen. The festival serves mouth-watering local specialties, such as smoked brisket, pulled pork, Crawfish Julie pasta, and seafood gumbo, along with hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, chicken-on-a-stick, jambalaya, funnel cakes, cotton candy and much more. Drinks include soft-drinks, water, beer, wine and daiquiris. The festival has many games and activities for kids of all ages, divided into a Kids Zone, Sports Zone and a Battle Zone. Kids Zone games include , Ringin Liters, Catchin Fish, Dipping Ducks, Frog Fly, Spillin Milk, Crashin Cans, Hangin Hats, an Art Tent, Plinko, a train, Baseball Mania, Rock Climbing and a Boneyard Sandbox. Our popular petting zoo will feature farm animals and pony rides. The Sports Zone includes Touchdown Fever, One-on-One Hoops, Golf Putting Contest, and Soccer Targets. New to the festival this year is the Battle Zone, which includes Paintball, Archery and Darts. The Festival of the Lake also features a top-notch craft show, with local art, woodwork, unique clothes, jewelry, books, decorative glassware, furniture, candles, purses, local food, floral, face painting, decorative crafts and much more.
