The 5th Station, Simon of Cyrene carries the crossLeader: On their way out they met a Cyrenian named Simon; this man they pressed into service to carry the cross. (Mt 27:32) Leader: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ (GENUFLECT) All: In atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. Let us pray: Lord, Your strength is gone and You can no longer bear the cross alone. The road to Calvary is still a long way and yet You have really to reach it. How greatly You have appreciated Simon of Cyrene who helped You carry the cross even if he did not volunteer to do it. How much more happy You are if the help is offered freely. Let us learn to love You by standing by You. Help us to learn to get involved when our help is needed. May we not be afraid nor reluctant to give a helping hand. Give us inner strength and courage to do what is pleasing to God.
