The Fiji Roads Authority is currently assessing roads that were damaged by the recent floods. However, there are still some roads that are underwater and these are posing a challenge for the authority since it’s difficult to carry out inspections until the water recedes. Maintenance Works Manager, Dale Nicholls says a lot of gravel was washed out in rural areas. “Now that’s sort of what we’ve would expect as the result of the heavy rain that we’ve had, we’ve also got a subsidence area on the Kings road, up near the Nayavu village, where road start to drop the level and move away and so that’s been currently monitored at the stage as well” The authority has confirmed that some crossings will be blocked for more than a week due to the damage caused by the flash floods. - See more at: fbc.fj/fiji/25151/fra-assess-road-damages#sthash.x5YNk3BP.dpuf
